What is it that I do?

How can I define my practice when it is constantly evolving in response to the natural world and human interaction with the universe?

I have occasionally referrered to myself as a conceptual artist; there are times when the ideas behind my work and the themes surrounding a piece become just as important as the work itself. However, I find it difficult to limit myself to one genre and I do strive to make work that is beautiful or which stirs emotion in the viewer.  My work ranges from animal portraits to people portraits, from three dimensional pieces and readymades to two dimensional studies. I take inspiration from nature and the relationship between human beings and the planet.

I have alot of admiration for other artists who have a positive message within their body of work as well as showing talent, originality and passion. An example of just a handfull of these are:
  • Carrie Reichardt for her pro-active political content and eye catching work;
  • Andy Goldsworthy for his stunning biodegradable sculptures with- in the landscape;
  • Ackroyd and Harvey for their fascinating science-art work that prompts important debate on climate change;
  • Julie Chappell- who's work envolves upcycling and using found and discarded materials to create new and beautiful art.
I don't know where my work will take me, I often think of it as being like a journey. Sometimes I stop for a while to contemplate my surroundings and refigure my bearings. Please support me on my journey by giving me feed back on my website or on my work itself.
I am always open to commissions so please do get in touch if you would like me to head in your direction.
